A forum to make comments, ask questions and have discussion has been added to this site; the link is at the top of the page.
The forum will also serve as a place to be able to make comments about any of the recorded ACARS flights, or any flights in general. If you have any hours from another virtual airline that you would like me to transfer over to here, please let me know and I will do this for you. Please check the forum for latest, current or additional info.
Please also know that ANYONE with an interest in aviation is welcome here, you do not need to register as a pilot. There are several places within the website that can be of interest to any user, such as the forum, networking, photos, and user features of the site. Please feel free to join in any and all ways that you wish to.
News - Section 2: When you get ACARS running, fill in the blanks as best as you can; if you can get the form to submit that is good enough for now. The flight number can be whatever you want. Focus on the airports and the flight level anticipated, most everythng else is secondary at this point. If you decide to use ACARS to record the flight and the simulator gets disconnected for some reason, see if you can reconnect in any way and then just continue with the flight. You can also just file a manual PIREP instead if you would like to. The primary reason for any flight logging is to serve your needs and desires.
News - Section 3: I have set the scoring system for ACARS to be very generous, so don't be concerned about your 'score' unless you want to be. A few things can help smooth out the score: 1. Don't taxi very fast. 2. Learn to set the parking brake, to turn your engine off and on, and to turn the beacon and landing lights on and off. When you have that in place, set the parking brake, turn the beacon on, turn on the engine, turn on the landing lights, and take off. Upon landing, reverse that order. An ACARS flight will give a score after the flight is submitted, but as I said, it will be lenient. Just try to avoid crashing and it will be fine. The goal is not the score, the point is to have fun and learn in the process. If you don't want to fill out an ACARS form, then just file a Manual PIREP (under your account name) and it is also just fine (no scoring!), anytime you want. There is no obligation to use ACARS; you can fly in any way you want and log the flight with a Manual PIPEP if you prefer, anytime, without explanation required. Have the flight serve your purpose and need.
